Now Hiring: Part-Time Preschool Teacher – Delano Community Education
Anticipated Start Date: August 2025
Location: Delano Community Education Center, 140 Elm Ave E, Delano, MN
Hours: .47 FTE, 3.75 hours/day (7:54-11:45 am) | Monday-Friday | 181 contract days per school year

Under the supervision of the Preschool Coordinator, the Preschool Teacher will create a positive, enriching, and inclusive learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role supports both the Delano Public Schools Preschool program, delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction and care that promotes school readiness and whole-child development.
About Our Program
DPS Preschool features a strong play-based focus using the Creative Curriculum and aligns with a PreK-Grade 3 model in partnership with Delano Elementary School. Instructional progress is assessed using Teaching Strategies Gold. We offer a cohesive full-day experience by partnering with Tiger Kids Club for wrap-around care during the school year and summer.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons across key developmental areas (literacy, math, science, social-emotional, physical)
- Lead a classroom of up to 18 students in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment
- Use play-based strategies to support hands-on learning and critical skill development
- Observe, assess, and document student growth using Teaching Strategies Gold
- Maintain accurate records and conduct two parent-teacher conferences per year
- Communicate effectively and professionally with families and colleagues
- Foster independence and positive social interactions through structured and unstructured activities
- Apply classroom management strategies that support a respectful, inclusive environment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Collaborate with the Early Childhood team to enhance programming
- Participate in ongoing professional development
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field required
- Minnesota teaching license required: Birth-Grade 3, K-6 with a pre-primary specialty, Early Childhood, or similar
- 1+ years of relevant experience preferred (but not required)
- Strong knowledge of child development and best practices in early education
- Commitment to supporting at-risk families and inclusive practices
- Cultural and linguistic competence aligned with the community’s needs
