QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold Bachelor’s degree and Kentucky elementary teacher certification with gifted/talented endorsement.
- Five years professional teaching experience
- Knowledge of gifted and talented state requirements
- Strong curriculum background
- Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal relations skills

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in identification of gifted/talented students via best practice assessment methods
- Ensure that G/T Service Plans are updated, implemented, monitored, and shared with teachers, students, and parents
- Provide direct service to identified gifted/talented students during and after the school day
- Consult with elementary and middle school teachers regarding best practice instructional strategies for gifted/talented students
- Identify existing resources and create additional opportunities in district and with community partners to address students’ needs in the areas of leadership and creativity
- Assist schools in organizing academic teams at each elementary school and oversee academic team competitions across the district
- Create and maintain a website providing information regarding gifted and talented services and processes
- Create curriculum-based resources for classroom teachers in order to allow them to provide necessary enrichment for students as appropriate
- Attend school and district collaborative planning sessions to address gifted/talented students’ academic needs
- Organize and host regular parent events to inform families about resources and opportunities for their children
- Conduct continuous literature review and provide information to Covington Independent staff as appropriate.
- Maintain regular and ongoing communication with appropriate parties.
- Remain current concerning instructional and technological advances. Attend and participate in professional workshops and conferences. Provide in-service training to other professionals and paraprofessionals.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as needed.
- Chair school committees for selection and placement of gifted and talented students
- Complete gifted and talented annual program review
- Facilitate a grievance process as needed
- Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent of Schools.
JOB GOAL:
- To support the continual growth of students identified as gifted/ talented by providing direct enrichment services, identifying additional services, collaborating with classroom teachers, and communicating with parents.
SALARY: *Based on rank and experience CONTRACT: 199 Days
