Description
POSITION FUNCTION SUMMARY
Plans and implements early childhood family engagement initiatives that support student learning and achievement
while ensuring that students and families feel supported and engaged. This position plays a crucial role in fostering
strong relationships between the school, families, and the broader community to support student enrollment and
retention.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Coordinate and facilitate family engagement events and activities to meet required hours.
2. Identifies best practices for family and community engagement programs, initiatives, and activities.
3. Assists in the dissemination of information on the district's strategic plan, key initiatives, other relevant
information about CMSD’s programs/services, and community resources to families and community members.
4. Assists PreK program administrators in meeting at least quarterly with other early care and education programs in
the community (public schools, community-based early care and education providers, Head Start, Family Infant
Toddler (FIT) programs) to promote collaboration opportunities, strengthen early childhood program partnerships,
and address saturation or duplication of services in the community.
5. Assists in the communication and support of families to ensure compliance in eligibility, recruitment, enrollment,
and attendance requirements.
6. Uses a variety of multimedia and social media to inform internal and external audiences about family and
community engagement efforts.
7. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of New Mexico Early Learning Guidelines, Home Visiting Guidelines,
Full Inclusion, Socio-Emotional Development of young children, and Professional Learning Requirements.
8. Demonstrate knowledge of community partner agencies, inter-agency agreements, and have ability to
communicate effectively with partner agencies.
9. Assist in home visits under the Home Visiting Guidelines
10. Keep families informed of program opportunities and services available at school or within the community to
support student academic and social learning.
11. Demonstrate knowledge of CMS Child Find process.
12. Identify underserved populations (i.e., homeless, migrant students, children in foster care, etc.)
13. Work with families of children in foster care.
14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
