Position/Title: Paraprofessional |
Reports To: Classroom Teacher/Principal
Primary Function: The paraprofessional is a support staff position working under the supervision of the classroom teacher( s ). The paraprofessional has some decision making authority limited and regulated by board policy and state law.
Qualifications:
Meet one of the following requirements:
1. Hold an associate's degree or higher in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
2. Have completed two (2) years of college coursework (sixty [60] semester hours) above the remedial level with a grade of "C" or better at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
3. Have passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment and hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
*Applicants will be asked to provide a transcript or copy of the high school diploma for licensure. If candidiate attended college, a college transcript will be need for licensure instead of the high school diploma. *

Duties:
Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently.
Shall exhibit a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the board, school administration, fellow employees, parents, students and the public.
Conduct small group or individual classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the teacher.
Assist with supervision of students.
Assist with student assessment, grading work and tests, and collecting data on student progress.
Participate in class field trips.
Assist with routine record keeping.
Assist with the preparation of materials for instruction (including copying/duplication of materials, construction of displays/bulletin boards, learning centers and manipulatives).
Locate, operate and return needed equipment.
Assist with classroom housekeeping.
Assist in the ordering and inventory of classroom equipment and materials.
Assist with school wide supervision, such as cafeteria monitoring and loading/unloading buses.
Perform other duties as assigned.
