Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a tuition-free public charter school located in Somerset and New Brunswick, New Jersey, serving grades Kindergarten through 12. With a diverse student body drawn from both urban and suburban communities, CJCP has grown from its founding class of 77 students in 2006 to more than 1,300 students and approximately 200 faculty and staff members today.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the School Business Administrator and Assistant School Business Administrator, the School Accountant is responsible for performing routine accounting functions, including preparing financial statements and maintaining accounting systems. The role also includes additional duties as assigned by the Chief Education Officer.
Position starting June 2, 2025
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a school environment
Advanced proficiency in communication and technology
Successful completion of a criminal background check
Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accurately record all receipts and expenditures across district funds
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for general, enterprise, unemployment, payroll, and agency accounts
Compile financial information for the Treasurer of School Monies
Posts monthly closing entries and prepares financial statements for all funds
Produce monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for review and signature
Maintain fixed asset schedules for the district
Conduct internal audits and review systems for policy compliance
Verify payroll data for accuracy and completeness
Submit FICA reimbursements to NJDOE
Manage payroll agency deductions and ensure timely payments to appropriate vendors
Analyze and track health benefit payments and receivables
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and related documentation
Support year-end closing procedures
Prepare documentation for the annual Comprehensive Financial Audit and collaborate with auditors
Review and validate annual tax withholding statements
Reconcile quarterly and annual Social Security reports for federal and state agencies
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent and School Business Administrator
