School Description:
Black River Public School is an independent, non-profit college-preparatory charter school serving grades K-12.  Chartered in 1996 by Grand Valley State University, the school features a multi-age Montessori-based elementary program, an integrated middle school liberal arts curriculum, and a rigorous high school program capped by 18 Advanced Placement courses.  The school has grown from 200 to over 950 students.  Because of its unique curriculum, Black River is permitted to begin the school year 2 weeks before Labor Day.
