TITLE: SOCIAL WORKER QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree
2. One year of experience in related field or major in a related field preferred
3. Evidence of capabilities needed to work with students and families from various socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds
4. Evidence of ability to function as a liaison between the community agencies and the school
5. Advanced training or certification in a specialized area of social work practice.
6. Ability to independently manage complex cases and make critical decisions.
7. Experience in supervisory or leadership positions, mentoring staff, or leading projects.
8. Possession of a state licensure such as LCSW or equivalent.

REPORTS TO: Supervising Administrator
JOB GOAL: To provide services to students, linking students and their families to outside counseling and support services, and to follow-up to determine effectiveness of services
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including, but are not limited to:
1. Exercise independent judgment in case management
2. Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized service plans, and make autonomous decisions regarding interventions and referrals
3. Ensures adherence to professional standards and ethical guidelines.
4. Conducts student needs assessments in assigned areas
5. Plans activities and health follow-ups based on the results of needs assessment
6. Develops a calendar indicating on-going activities
7. Develops a parent advisory council as mandated by program guidelines or administrative request
8. Develops and follows a procedure for program evaluation
9. Functions as a liaison between the school and the family
10. Makes families aware of available services through community agencies
11. Assists families in the agency referral and follow-up system
12. Keeps accurate records of referrals and initiates prompt action on the referral
13. Advises the parent or guardian of an impending student problem and of options available to solve the problem
14. Keeps the originator of the referral informed as to referral completion or progress being made
15. Organizes office for effective use and easy access to student records and other data
16. Makes use of a monthly calendar showing schedule of appointments, staff meetings, home visits, medical appointments, etc.
17. Submits reports as scheduled or requested
18. Participates in staff development
19. Participates as a member of the MTSS teams
20. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
21. Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
22. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees
