J O B    D E S C R I P T I O N
 
Position Title:         Student Advocate
Department:           Building
Reports To:             Building Principal
 
SUMMARY:  Student Advocate will coordinate with principals to provide support for a student’s academic and behavioral success. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
Duties and responsibilities may include:
  • Coordinate with principal to provide support to students within the school setting
  • Work with counselors and teachers as necessary to facilitate academic and behavioral success for students
  • Knowledge of community and the resources with the community
  • Rapport with students and families
  • Ability to communicate with all parties using a variety of methods

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree is desired but not required
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Language skills required for this job may include:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or visitors to the district.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Mathematical skills required at all levels include:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
REASONING ABILITY:  
Reasoning ability may include:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and involving several variables in various situations..
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
 
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Other skills and abilities essential and required for this job may include:
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND EVALUATION:
Terms of employment and evaluation for this job will include:
  • A 161 day contract.
  • Salary and fringe benefits to be determined by the Board of Education.
  • An annual performance evaluation to be completed by the building principal.
