Description

We are seeking a dedicated English Language (EL) Tutor(s) to work up to 20 hours per week, possibly across multiple sites, supporting students in grades K-5. The ideal candidate will have experience working with multi-language learners  and collaborating with classroom teachers.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Work with multi-language learners:

   - Assess students' English language proficiency levels

   - Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to improve students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills

   - Use engaging, age-appropriate materials and activities to support language acquisition

   - Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and cultural backgrounds

2. Share resources with teachers:

   - Collaborate with classroom teachers to align EL instruction with classroom instruction and resources 

   - Provide guidance on  strategies for multi-language learners

   - Share supplementary materials to support EL students in mainstream classrooms

   - Participate in team meetings to ensure coordinated support for EL students

   - Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for all students

   - Monitor and track student progress, adjusting instruction as needed

   - Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and ways to support language learning at home

   - Assist in the transition of EL students to mainstream classrooms when appropriate
Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, or related field (Master's preferred)

- Experience working with elementary-aged multi-language learners

- Experience in providing early reading instruction with focus on language development and language comprehsion

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and record-keeping

Additional Education/Information: DCF Mandated Reporter Training Required
Pay is at Tutor Rate
Position dependent upon funding
