Description
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum five years experience working with youth and their families.
Ability and experience to work with diverse, multi-cultural population.Knowledge of community resources.
Crisis intervention experience preferred.
REPORTS TO: PUPIL PERSONNEL DIRECTOR/HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
JOB GOAL:
Reduce juvenile delinquency and gang participation, improve academic performance and reduce the dropout rate.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Transports students in accordance with designated priorities;
- Provides ongoing home visits to truant students;
- Consults with school psychologists and social workers;
- Consults with community agency personnel;
- Follows-up on schools’ daily attendance list of youth who have unexcused absences for two consecutive days;
- Remains visible at various schools and community sites during the day;
- Supports parents in their effort to get students to school;
- Provides documentation to schools, agencies and the legal system;
- Reports child abuse/neglect situations to DCFS;
- Contacts students’ families to report/confirm truancies;
- Accompanies school personnel on home visits;
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 day school calendar with salary and hours to be
established by the Board of Education.
Starting wage $16.28/hour as stated in the United Steelworkers Union contract.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions established by the Board of Education.
