PLATO Instructional Aide
2024-2025 School Year


Position Title:            PLATO Instructional Aide 
Department:              Flagstaff High School
Supervisor:                 Principal

Hourly Rate:   $18.00 - $18.75/hour (depending on experience)
Grade:  21
Schedule:  35 hours/week (Monday-Friday; hours TBD); 9-month position. Benefits offered.  Arizona State Retirement System eligible.

Start Date: July 31, 2025
 
SUMMARY:
The FHS PLATO instructor engages students who have failed to earn credit in a course required for graduation in an online credit recovery course. The FHS PLATO instructor coordinates with FHS counselors to refer students to PLATO credit recovery and completes tasks associated with PLATO enrollment. The PLATO instructor monitors progress based on established expectations and provides students and their families updates and guidance regularly and as needed. The PLATO instructor documents and communicates with the registrar and counselors when students successfully complete a PLATO course so that the registrar can attach this to the student transcript.


TYPICAL TASKS:
  • Receive referrals for PLATO from the FHS counseling department and enroll students in PLATO
  • Establish a completion plan and success criteria for each student
  • Maintain regular communication with each student and their family
  • Provide reasonable notice to students and their families when the student is not on track to earn PLATO credit
  • Communicate regularly and as needed with the CHS counseling department and administration

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Strong technology skills
  • Able to quickly build cooperative relationships with students and their families
  • Able to motivate students who have experienced failure to succeed in PLATO credit recovery
  • Able to identify roadblocks to success and cooperate with the student, their family, and CHS staff/faculty to plan for success
  • Strong commitment to student success and fulfilling professional responsibilities in an ethical manner
