Description

The Winnetka Public Schools District 36 has a full-time 4th Grade Classroom Teacher Position Available at Hubbard Woods Elementary School effective August 27, 2025 (1 year Assignment)
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Regarding Planning and Preparation: Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy; demonstrates and articulates knowledge of students, including their developmental stages and needs; differentiates instruction; and designs coherent, creative, flexible, and dynamic curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  2. Regarding the Classroom Environment: Works with students to create an environment of respect and rapport within and outside the classroom; to establish a culture of learning and democracy; to manage classroom procedures and student behavior; to create responsive physical space.
  3. Regarding Instruction: Clearly communicates anticipated learning outcomes, directions and procedures with students; supports the use of multiple modalities in teaching and learning processes/activities; promotes questioning and discussion techniques to engage students in the learning process; and supports the differentiation of instruction.
  4. Regarding Professional Responsibilities: Reflects on instructional practices to guide future plans, teaching and professional development; documents student growth and progress; communicates instructional objectives and outcomes with families; grows and develops professionally; participates in a professional community; and shows professionalism.
  5. Completes all District compliance training as required.
 
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform other duties as directed by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Building Principal 

EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION/ CERTIFICATES/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have appropriate Illinois Professional Teaching License.
  2. Prefer previous experience in a similar grade level position.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  4. Knowledge of and commitment to a child-centered approach to teaching. The ability to differentiate instruction within a heterogeneous group is expected.
  5. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
  6. Desire and personal skills to work cooperatively with colleagues and to communicate effectively.
  7. A high energy level and willingness to devote the time required of the position.
  8. A commitment to continuous personal and professional growth.
  9. Experience with using technology in support of classroom teaching and learning experiences. 
  10. Clearance of FBI Background check required.
  11. Physical Exam within last year of hire date.
  12. Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred.
 
Qualities expected of the applicant include the following:

1. Have a high energy level, as well as possess a keen understanding of elementary education best practices, child development principles, progressive education ideals, and a strong desire and commitment to work with elementary level children.
2. Be able to articulate the needs of the elementary school child (physical, emotional, intellectual).
3. Have the ability to differentiate instruction within a heterogeneous student group.
4. Have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
5. Have a commitment to continuous personal and professional growth.
6. Work well cooperatively and effectively communicate with colleagues.
7. Have a working knowledge of computers, software, and technology.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 15 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds required in the physical assistance of students with special needs.  Ability to move freely to various locations within the classroom, office and other business and community settings.  Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending.  Frequent repetitive activities including hands, arms, and legs for clerical related work.  Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.  Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

 

Salary and fringe benefits will be determined by the WEA Professional Agreement.
