Description

TITLE:  School Technology Integration and Behavior Support Specialist                                     
 
FLSA:   Non-exempt
 
TERMS:  Salary in accord with the district salary scale for classified employees.  Work year is
comprised of 182 days per academic year as established annually by the Board.   

 
 
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, provides monitoring of students in in-school suspension and assist teachers in enhancing learning through improved use and integration of technology in order to promote computer science standards with students. Monitors students and performs a variety of clerical and instructional support tasks. Assists and supervises the actions and education of children as needed. Reports to the principal.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitors in-school-suspension.
 
Assists in the library/media center, as needed, and provides technical assistance during the school day to support instruction and assist faculty and staff. Assists faculty and staff in obtaining further technical assistance (via the SDNC work order system) and maintains a log to track requests for technical assistance.
 
Supports instruction in computer science standards.
 
Promotes and models the use of technology through a variety of methods.
 
Operates general office equipment such as a computer, printer, copier, telephone system, etc.
 
Willingly performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
 
 
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
A High School Diploma and one to two years of experience in education or working with juveniles. Must meet the District’s Basic Skills Test Requirements. A good knowledge of and understanding of child growth and development. Proficient in computer and word processing software or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. The applicant should have demonstrated competency using various district technologies (Smartboard/Promethean boards, Windows devices, iPads, etc.) and various applications (Google, Office 365, online tools, etc.).   
 
Experience in a teaching or computer lab environment coupled with strong personal computer skills and experience in classroom technology integration is preferred.
 
 
Knowledge
Knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  Working knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and operations.  General knowledge of modern office equipment such as typewriters, copiers, and calculators.  Knowledge of clerical functions such as typing, filing and sorting.  Knowledge in the application of classroom instruction and teaching.
 
Skills/Effort
Skill in the use of general office equipment such as calculators, typewriters, computers, copiers, etc.  Good written and verbal communication, organization, basic mathematical, and telephone skills.  Ability to interact with co-workers, students and school staff in a courteous and professional manner.  Ability to work independently with students.
 
Working Conditions
Conducts duties in an office environment with some exposure to environmental conditions, primarily due to the outside supervision of students.  Physical demands are restricted to office work requiring the lifting/moving of items weighing up to 25 pounds.  Occasional local travel may be required; no overnight travel is required.  Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
