Preschool Instructor for Proactive Intervention Program (PIP)
Part-Time 175 days/8 hours per day (days and hours vary)
Location: Sorteberg Early Childhood Center
Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool is an early childhood program for children ages three to kindergarten. The program is to prepare children for kindergarten by providing planned learning experiences in a classroom setting with the emphasis on the emerging development of social and academic skills. Preschool Instructors are responsible for child learning and development in alignment with selected objectives. The Preschool program runs September thru May with classrooms located throughout the school district.
Duties: PIP teachers evaluate behaviors to determine potential causes of challenging behaviors. Perform a leadership role in supporting students with Proactive Intervention Program (PIP) plans and implementing strategies in the classroom. Provide communication with parents/guardians at pick up and/or drop off. Be an active member in classroom team meetings to best support and plan for needs of specific students. Complete paperwork including Behavior Incident Reports (BIRs). Assist in conducting group and individual activities for children ages 3-5 in Preschool, children birth to five and their parents in ECFE. Assist in teaching academic and social skills through planned learning activities in the classroom. Participate in staff meetings and training. Perform other duties as assigned. Positions may include evening hours depending on student needs and class.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or closely related field. Ability to work with children ages 3-5 and their parents. Lesson planning and classroom management skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to work with children with disabilities in an inclusive classroom. Good communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day. Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds. Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions. Must be physically working in the building.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching license in Early Childhood, Kindergarten or Elementary Education preferred. Experience teaching in a high-quality early childhood program preferred. Pyramid Model Tier 1, 2, and 3 trainings completed preferred. Handle with Care training certification preferred.
Rate of pay: $33.44/hour and up, DOQ.
