Description
The Raymore-Peculiar Buildings and Grounds Department is seeking a Raymore-Peculiar High School Student to fill the position of Dock Worker Apprentice. Students entering their junior year in high school are qualified to apply. An individual who completes the apprenticeship requirements will be eligible for a ????? which is an industry recognized credential. To achieve this credential, the student must complete ??? work hours as well as take high school course work such as ???. In order to obtain the required number of work hours, this position will continue during the 2025-2026 school year, summer of 2026, 2026-2027 school year, and summer 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding or strapping to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
- Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that the inventory is protected.
- Sort cargo for processing or transport.
- Mark materials or objects for identification.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Move freight, stock or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers by hand or using trucks or other equipment.
- Carry needed tools or supplies from storage or trucks and return them after use.
- Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
- Operate moving and lifting equipment, including attaching devices to lift and guide loads and adjusting controls to guide, position or move equipment..
- Pack containers and repack damaged containers.

Salary:
- $13.75/hour through June 30th
- $15.00/hour beginning July 1st
