About the Role
Carpenter dates TBD based on Production Schedule - times are flexible (Monday-Friday, 9am-9pm - based on stage availability and Saturdays, 9:30am-12:30pm). Carpenter to assist with scenic build for production.
The Carpenter interacts with and responds to students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members in ways that demonstrates their alignment and agreement with the district’s equity commitments as expressed in Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities:
Meet with TD to review scenic plans, concepts, vision, building deadlines and stage limitations for build/paint
Helps TD with supplies and equipment, establishes and adheres to design and build timelines
Carpenters must be able to read design plans and draftings
Build, set decoration and possible painting – design, organization of materials (building, painting, dressing)
Maintain safe, organized and tidy work spaces
Leave time daily to clean and organize work areas - safety and cleanliness are priorities
Stage must be cleared of all building materials and swept before 3:30pm each day for rehearsal
All tools and equipment must be stowed/locked up at the end of each day
This job requires flexible hours
Candidate Qualifications:
- High School Dipolma
Able to read design plans and draftings from Technical Director
Knowledge and experience working with saws, drills, and basic tools for set build
- Able to work with wood and other building materials to construct production set based on scenic design plans
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the performance of light work—which may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere.
