POLYTECH School District is seeking experienced candidates with strong interpersonal skills to join our adult education team. As the Family Literacy Coordinator, you will carry out a variety of activities outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Family Literacy Coordinator will support adult division functions, including:
- Organize and coordinate programming for Family Literacy program
- Coordinate pre- and post-testing for family literacy children
- Develop and revise annual family literacy instructional plan as needed
- Develop and conduct or arrange staff development sessions, including sessions on various instruction methods and enriched learning in classroom settings
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of the family literacy program and implement changes based on findings
- Provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals
- Coordinate communication among ESL and family literacy staff about issues and needs relating to adults and children participating in the program
- Participate in grant-writing activities to obtain program funding
- Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program
- Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required
- Evaluate family literacy instructional staff as needed
Essential Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of bachelor’s degree in education or related field of study.
Experience:
- Knowledge of preschool and/or elementary level curriculum and instruction
- Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of children, including English Language Learners (ELL’s)
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in supervision and grant writing preferred
- Current K-12 or Adult Education certification preferred
- Willing to work a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings and weekends
- Ability to write, speak, and interact clearly and professionally
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to analyze and revise program practices to improve efficiency
- This is a part-time, hourly position.
- This position reports to the Director of Adult Education or designee.
- Successful completion of Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to start of employment.
- Direct deposit of payroll checks is mandatory and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.
