Description
Position: District Skilled General Maintenance
(Pending Final Budget Approval)
Position Summary: A maintenance person assigned to the district to perform primarily preventative maintenance. Conduct routine checks on building systems like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building structure. Identify potential problems, perform repairs, and associate tasks.
Qualifications:
- Must pass a physical examination by a district-authorized physician.
- Must be able to lift 70 pounds.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with no night-time driving restrictions.
- Must have knowledge of painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Must be willing to work nights (weekends, if necessary).
- Carry out various types of building maintenance services and repairs inside and outside the school buildings and on the school grounds.
- Possess the skills and ability to properly:
- Remove, repair, and install sheetrock walls and paint.
- Remove, repair, and patch plaster walls.
- Prepare and paint or varnish all applicable types of surfaces.
- Remove, cut, and install ceiling tiles.
- Install any and all types of wall coverings.
- Perform rough carpentry duties.
- Distinguish the type(s) of materials and supplies needed to perform the task(s).
- Order and pick up materials from suppliers.
- Develop and maintain a running inventory of materials and supplies to track use.
- Could be called upon to:
- Minor repairs: Fixing minor issues like leaky faucets, broken light switches, clogged drains, damaged doors, and more.
- Loading and unloading supplies, equipment, etc.
- Setting up equipment for and breaking down from a major activity.
- May require working on ladders, scaffolding, or in a confined space.
