- Lead and conduct the school band in rehearsals and performances;
- Teach instrumental music (various instruments such as brass, woodwind, percussion, etc.);
- Develop lesson plans that align with the school's music curriculum and educational standards;
- Provide individual instruction and support for students as needed to improve technique and performance skills;
- Select and arrange music for the band to perform, catering to different skill levels and event requirements;
- Plan and implement a variety of musical performances, such as concerts, marching band events, and competitions;
- Collaborate with other departments, such as choir or orchestra, to plan joint performances or events;
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment to ensure students feel motivated and confident in their musical abilities;
- Provide opportunities for students to participate in advanced ensembles, solos, and band competitions;
- Offer mentorship and guidance for students interested in pursuing music beyond high school;
- Organize and manage band events, including rehearsals, concerts, and trips (e.g., band camp, competitions);
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance;
- Manage inventory of instruments, sheet music, and other band equipment;
- Coordinate with school administration regarding scheduling, budget, and performance logistics;
- Communicate with parents, guardians, and the community about upcoming performances, fundraising needs, and band activities;
- Work with other staff members to integrate the band program with the school's academic goals and extracurricular activities;
- Collaborate with other music teachers and departments to support school-wide events and initiatives;
- Promote the band program to incoming students and encourage participation;
- Develop strategies to retain students in the band program throughout their high school years;
- Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Supervisor.
- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment as needed;
- Ability to move and position oneself to demonstrate and assist with mobility techniques;
- Ability to prepare and manipulate tactile learning materials;
- Ability to stand and actively move around the classroom for extended periods;
- Ability to travel between school sites if providing itinerant services;
- Ability to respond quickly in case of an emergency;
