POSITION TITLE:    IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION MONITOR, West Bristol School
 
DEPARTMENT:        MISCELLANEOUS / NON-CERTIFIED
 
REPORTS TO:         BUILDING PRINCIPAL
 
SUMMARY:              To provide a supervisory presence within the middle school.  Responsible for the in-school suspension room.  To assist the school staff in effectively using all appropriate resources to improve the learning environment for students.
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

  •              Responsible for monitoring and supervising the in-school suspension room.
  •              Assist school staff in resolving student problems.
  •              Perform limited work with individual students to improve attendance and overall school performance.
  •              Monitor attendance and tardiness records of students.
  •              Assist in the supervision of corridors, lavatories, parking areas, cafeteria.
  •              Report problems to counselors, teachers and administrators.
  •              Report any suspected violations of the law, such as child abuse, illegal drug sales and alcohol use to school administrators.
  •              Discourage absenteeism and tardiness through personal counseling of students.
  •              Explain school rules and policies to students and parents.
  •              Work to resolve conflicts between students.
  •              Perform other duties as required by school administrators.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL DUTY SATISFACTORILY.  THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND/OR ABILITY REQUIRED.  REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS MAY BE MADE TO ENABLE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
  
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  •  High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.   
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  •  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. 
 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  •  Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. 
 COMPUTER SKILLS:
  •  Basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications. 
 REASONING ABILITY:
  •  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Date of Service:      ASAP for 2024-2025 School Year           Work Hours:  7:45am to 3:15pm  (7 hours/day)
