Instructional Support Compensation Plan
Salary Range: $40.00 - $45.00 per/Hour
Shift Type: Full-Time
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Principal/Supervisor
 


EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: 2025 - 2026 School Year



PRIMARY PURPOSE:
  • To provide interpreting services for students, parents, staff, and community members who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The interpreter will facilitate effective communication in educational settings and district-wide events in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, students, families, and district personnel to ensure equal access to communication.
       
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and college credit in American Sign Language.
  •  Certification from the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI)  Level Advanced or above or the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
 
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of ADA compliance and accessibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of Special Education and Deaf Education law
                       
EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience interpreting in educational environments, IEP meetings, and district-wide events.
  • Ability to interpret in various settings, including classrooms, meetings, extracurricular activities, and public events.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Provide sign language interpreting services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in all district-related activities.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between students, teachers, staff, parents, and administrators.
  • Interpret for district meetings, special education evaluations and sessions, parent-teacher conferences, and school functions.
  • Ensure compliance with ADA and Section 504 regulations by providing equal access to communication.
  • Work closely with Deaf Education staff, special education teams, and district administrators to support accessibility needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreting assignments.
  • Assist with scheduling of ADA ASL interpreter needs. 
  • Utilize and stay updated on assistive technology, captioning, and other accessibility tools.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Overseeing staffing and contract needs for district employee ASL needs

  • concerning campus and classroom modifications for deaf students
  • Functioning as a team member in the education of deaf students

  • Repetitive hand motions to formulate signs
