Farmington ECFE is seeking a long-term sub for the following classes. Please note, in some of the classes you will be both the Parent Educator and the Early Childhood Teacher. Class names, descriptions, and dates and times are listed below.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
State of Minnesota licensure in parent education and early childhood education or out of field permission.
Parent Education/early childhood classroom experience of at least three years is preferred.
Current knowledge of topics related to parenting, caregiving, and best practices related to the care of children.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following
:Design and implement parent education and early childhood lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the class topic.
Communicate and converse with a variety of individuals, including parents, grandparents, caregivers, etc. about topics related to parenting and the care of children.
Interact with parents/guardians and children with positivity and kindness.
Rrepare and maintain classrooms and other program spaces.
Listen to and talk with children, engaging them in program activities and play.
Participate as an active team member in the delivery and evaluation of the program’s goals.
Assist in maintaining a positive and safe environment for all participants and staff.
Understand, follow, and implement the policies and procedures of Farmington Community Education and ISD 192.
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment. Must have and maintain a good driving record.

Marvelous Mondays Drop In (Parent Educator & Early Childhood Teacher) Class Description: At Drop In and Play classes, caregivers and learners will enjoy playing in our ECFE children's classroom. Activities include art, sensory, gym, and STEM projects. ECFE staff are present to answer questions! Pre-registration is recommended, but not required. Day of the Week: Monday Class Dates: 4/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19 Class Time: 8:30am-10:30am
A Grand Class (Parent Educator) Class Description: Calling all Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Nannies, Babysitters etc.! This class is for those that care for littles that aren't their own children. Bring the little one to explore art, sensory play, science, music and movement plus so much more. Day of the Week: Monday Class Dates: 4/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19 Class Time: 11am-12pm
2s and 3s (Parent Educator) Class Description: What can you expect from your little one now that they are getting a little older? Learn reasons why one minute your child is a "little adult" and the next minute is falling apart. Learn ways you can help them learn the skills they need to cope with day-to-day life. Discuss ways one can encourage when children cooperate and options for parents to aid in a "peaceful" household. Class information is geared toward 2-3 year olds, but siblings are welcome and should register too. Day of the Week: Tuesday Class Dates: 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20 Class Time: 8:30am-11am
Family Fun Playtime (Parent Educator & Early Childhood Teacher)
Class Description: Bring the family and join us for an evening of fun! This time will help break up your evenings by providing science, art, and play. All children birth - third grade in your family are welcome to join us and will find fun activities. Register for one night or come every week - it's up to you! Day of the Week: Tuesday Class Dates: 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20 Class Time: 5:30pm-7:30pm
Baby (Parent Educator & Early Childhood Teacher)
Class Description: Life with a baby is exciting and bewildering and hilarious and stressful and adorable! All of the things! Connect with other parents to share stories and successes, and to support each other through the challenges of parenting. This class does not separate, but immediately following this class you may enjoy our ECFE’s Coffee and a Chat class that is separating! One morning, two great offerings! Class information is geared toward infants, but siblings are welcome and should register too. Day of the Week: Wednesday Class Dates: 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21 Class Time: 8:30am-9:30am
Coffee and a Chat (Parent Educator)
Class Description: Sit down, catch your breath, and enjoy a warm beverage from start to finish. Connect with other parents and caregivers while your little ones enjoy playtime in our early learning classroom. Day of the Week: Wednesday Class Dates: 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/21 Class Time: 9:45am-10:45am
Special Days (Parent Educator)
Class Description: Make an ordinary day extraordinary as we celebrate special days. Tiger Day, Mango Day, Emoji Day! Come to ECFE and be surprised with the unique day we’re exploring. Parents will separate for a discussion while kids enjoy our early learning classroom. Day of the Week: Thursday Class Dates: 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22 Class Time: 9:30am-12pm
Gimme a Break (Parent Educator)
Class Description: Busy days, busy bodies, and busy lives. Take a break with us! Enjoy a morning with someone else figuring out activities and cleaning up the mess. Engage in adult conversation without interruption from your littlest loves. We’ve got you covered in this class! Day of the Week: Friday Class Dates: 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23 Class Time: 9am-11:30am
Weekend Warm Up (Parent Educator)
Class Description: ECFE is going to get you ready for the weekend! Play, create, and explore in our early learning classroom. Enjoy songs and a story too. Every child participating in this class will be sent home with a To Go Kit including 3-5 activities to do at home. Kits are specific to babies, toddlers or preschoolers. New kits will be sent home every Friday! Day of the Week: Friday Class Dates: 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23 Class Time: 12:30pm-2pm
Ready, Set, Play (Parent Educator & Early Childhood Teacher)
Class Description: Kick off your weekend with ECFE! Join us for crafts, science, sensory, songs, and playground fun. This drop-in class is come and go, whatever works best for your family. Activities are geared for children ages birth-5 years old. Kids up to 9 years old are welcome. Day of the Week: Saturday Class Dates: 4/12, 4/26, 5/3, 5/10, 5/17, 5/24 Class Time: 9:30am-11:30am
