Key Responsibilities:
- Provide health assessments, first aid, medication administration, and referrals to promote student wellness and minimize absences.
- Partner with the Health Office Coordinator to maintain medical protocols, documentation, and compliance with state regulations.
- Support community-based instruction (CBI) by attending off-site trips to administer medication and ensure student/staff well-being.
- Maintain accurate health records and ensure immunization compliance.
- Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) as needed and contribute to IEPs.
- Conduct screenings (vision, hearing, etc.), assist with immunization programs, and provide emergency care.
- Collaborate with families, staff, and medical professionals to support the holistic needs of students.
- Participate on crisis and multidisciplinary teams, offering insight as the designated healthcare professional.
- Provide health education and guidance to students, families, and staff.
Qualifications:
- Licensed RN in New Jersey, with NJ School Nurse Certification (or ability to obtain)
- CPR Certification required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Biology, Chemistry, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Background in pediatrics or school/community health setting is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
Work Environment & Safety:
- School-based environment with occasional off-site responsibilities
- Use of standard medical and office equipment
- Exposure to illnesses, bodily fluids, and medications in compliance with OSHA and Board safety protocols
