ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR - HIGH SCHOOL
General Description:
To develop in each student an appreciation of music and performance.
Qualifications:
Act as a proper role model for all staff and students both in school and outside the district.
Performance Expectations (Essential Functions):
1. Assist the Director of Bands in the rehearsal and education of musical and marching skills required for the many aspects of marching band, and concert performances.
2. Assist the Director of Bands in the following areas:
- Selecting and preparing music
- Writing drills for marching
- Supervising assistant directors and auxiliary group leaders
- Schedule events for the year including rehearsals, leadership training, and band camp
- Coordinate transportation needs
- Communicate with the maintenance department for concert setup and tear down
- Attend music booster club meetings
- Prepare for and lead community parades (Corn Festival and Memorial Day)
- Maintain uniform and instrument inventory and organize repairs and maintenance
- Work with community organizations for community outreach performances.
Other Professional Expectations:
Perform other such duties as the Board may direct.
Additional Working Conditions:
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
Occasional interaction with unruly children.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
In addition, the employee shall be free of any substance, prescribed or otherwise, that impairs the employee's work performance or the safety of other while on duty.
Compensation will be $5,000
