Job Title: Watertown Mayer Special Education Evaluation Manager
Job Summary:
The Special Education Evaluation Manager serves in a district-wide lead teacher position for students from kindergarten through transition age young adults for special education evaluations. The primary responsibilities include facilitating, organizing and leading child study meetings in collaboration with the school psychologist, being a key contact for special education teachers in all buildings and communicating between buildings and the district. The Evaluation Manager will also lead the evaluation and due process continuum which brings students from referral through the evaluation process. The responsibilities assumed by the Special Education Evaluation Manager allow for quality and consistency district-wide and enables the special education teachers to spend more time in preparation for and direct instruction of students with special needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Consultation:
Consults with regular and special education teachers and related service personnel (OT, PT,OHI, SSW, SLPs,etc.)
Participates in elementary school Problem Solving Team (PST) regarding identification, intervention suggestions and evaluation of challenging conditions.
Collaborates closely with case managers and team members to assure information is communicated clearly between the evaluation process and the writing of the IEP.
Collaborates closely with the district school psychologist to problem solve and determine evaluation plans.
Staffings/Due Process Facilitation:
- Co-lead child study meetings with the school psychologist.
Coordinates scheduling team meetings with parents and appropriate team members.
Facilitates all team meetings following an initial evaluation.
Ensures consistency and quality of due process paperwork.
Receive and process referrals for initial comprehensive educational evaluations.
Manages issues of compliance:
Timelines
Internal consistency
Distribution of completed paperwork
Collaborate with the district special education secretary to document appropriately for MARSS reporting.
Evaluation:
Prepares and manages timelines and permission for the evaluation process.
Administers and interprets academic assessments
Conducts observations of student in classroom
Interprets evaluation data, analyzes evaluation results and writes evaluation reports in collaboration with the school psychologist
Uses evaluation information to collaborate with the case manager to aid in the writing of the IEP.
Additional Responsibilities:
Attends appropriate staff development activities to keep current with state and federal statutes/regulations and current trends.
Acquires and advances technological skills related to computer programs used in maintaining special education records, files and reports (SpEd Forms).
Develop a 30-day evaluation calendar annually to ensure timelines are met
Provide on-site support and guidance for new and veteran special education teachers

Required Education:
Special Education Licensure as a special education teacher through the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.
Experience in the delivery of special education and/or related services as well as experience in special education IEP due process.
Previous experience conducting special education assessments and knowledge of MTSS frameworks preferred.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
