JOB SUMMARY:

This position is accountable for acting as a working supervisor for a crew of Custodian engaged in the cleaning of District buildings.

DAYS/HOURS:
40 hours/week, Monday through Friday -  12 Month Position

SALARY RANGE:
Starting at $18.62/hr

REQUIREMENTS:

*High School Diploma or a general education development (GED) certificate.
*Two (2) years of full-time employment or equivalent work that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of building custodial and/or housekeeping work and related equipment;
2.  Interpersonal skills;
3. Oral and written communication skills;
4. Ability to apply knowledge of general building repairs;
5. Ability to follow directions and make decisions related to general cleaning practices and department procedures;
6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
7. Ability to operate, care for and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work;
8. Ability to organize the daily routine, organize sustained cleaning and follow-up functions of the position and work area;
9. Ability to understand the concepts of the District's building maintenance and custodial operation;
10. Ability to work with a variety of people and to work cooperatively with District staff and students in a teamwork environment;
11. Some ability in simple record keeping;
12. Some problem-solving ability;
13. Somer supervisory ability;
14. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.

1. Acts as liaison with operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding department policies and procedures; 
2. Assists in conducting performance evaluations;
3. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and Board and District policies related to the proper performance of the head custodian function (OSHA, etc.); 
4. Ensures supplies and equipment for crew are adequate by reporting shortages to supervisor; 
5. Establishes and maintains crew procedures; 
6. Performs full range of duties as outlined in Custodian class specification; 
7. Plans crew workflow and determines priorities; 8. Provides staff training and assistance; 
9. Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work;
10. May make recommendations on policies or standards; 
11. May prepare reports and correspondence; 
12. Performs related duties as required.
