Position Summary:
The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) will assist the principal in maintaining a positive, safe, and productive learning environment by managing discipline, addressing bus discipline issues, developing and monitoring attendance plans, and providing general supervision throughout the building. This position requires completed administrative coursework and a strong commitment to fostering student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the principal in handling student discipline, ensuring fair and consistent application of school policies.

  •  Investigate incidents, communicate with students and families, and document outcomes appropriately

  • Address behavioral concerns related to student transportation.

  • Collaborate with bus drivers, students, and families to resolve conflicts and maintain a safe environment on school buses.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor attendance plans for students with chronic absenteeism.

  • Work with families, students, and support staff to identify barriers to attendance and provide solutions.

  • Provide supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other unstructured times.

  • Monitor student behavior to ensure compliance with school rules and foster a safe learning environment.

  • Work closely with teachers, staff, and families to support student success.

  • Act as a liaison between the principal and staff to address concerns and facilitate communication.

  • Assist with other tasks and initiatives as directed by the principal to support school operations and student achievement.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with the Ohio State Board of Education.

  • Completion of administrative coursework (Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or equivalent preferred).

  • Strong understanding of child development and behavior management strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with K-2 students in an educational setting.

  • Prior leadership experience in a school environment.

  • Familiarity with attendance monitoring systems and interventions.
