Position Summary:
The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) will assist the principal in maintaining a positive, safe, and productive learning environment by managing discipline, addressing bus discipline issues, developing and monitoring attendance plans, and providing general supervision throughout the building. This position requires completed administrative coursework and a strong commitment to fostering student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the principal in handling student discipline, ensuring fair and consistent application of school policies.
Investigate incidents, communicate with students and families, and document outcomes appropriately
Address behavioral concerns related to student transportation.
Collaborate with bus drivers, students, and families to resolve conflicts and maintain a safe environment on school buses.
Develop, implement, and monitor attendance plans for students with chronic absenteeism.
Work with families, students, and support staff to identify barriers to attendance and provide solutions.
Provide supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other unstructured times.
Monitor student behavior to ensure compliance with school rules and foster a safe learning environment.
Work closely with teachers, staff, and families to support student success.
Act as a liaison between the principal and staff to address concerns and facilitate communication.
Assist with other tasks and initiatives as directed by the principal to support school operations and student achievement.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification with the Ohio State Board of Education.
Completion of administrative coursework (Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or equivalent preferred).
Strong understanding of child development and behavior management strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with K-2 students in an educational setting.
Prior leadership experience in a school environment.
Familiarity with attendance monitoring systems and interventions.
