Position Title: Extended School Year (ESY) Certified Teachers
Department/Section: Exceptional Student Services
Supervisor: Alisha Mihoda, ESY Coordinator
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
The Extended School Year (ESY) Program is designed for special education students meeting specific criteria to be referred to this program on their IEP. Teachers will provide instruction specific to each student, based upon goals identified on the student's IEP.
The ESY Program for staff runs from Friday, May 30, 2025, to Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Staff hours are 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Monday through Friday. Teachers are paid stipend of $2,050. All positions are based on student enrollment figures. Staff work-day/set-up is Friday, May 30. ESY will be held at Thomas Elementary School.

- Review individual student's IEP for the designated classroom, and identify their individual goals to be addressed during ESY.
- Plan lessons and activities that will address the goals identified for each student. Implement these lessons/activities to support the student's individual IEP. Implement and follow student's BIP, if appropriate.
- Work with and direct any paraprofessional who is assigned to work in the classroom and with any student(s) assigned to your classroom.
- Provide a progress report (standard form provided) at the end of the ESY Program to be sent home to the parent/guardian, as well as a copy provided for the student's file at the school site and the District Office.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Teaching Positions Description:
- Position and grade levels will be determined by student enrollment figures.
- Current Arizona Special Education Certification K-12 is required. Elementary Teaching Certification or Middle/High school core content areas preferred, depending on ESY grade level taught.
- Previous ESY experience preferred.
- Available positions (grade levels, specialized programs, etc.) are dependent on student enrollment for the ESY Summer program.
