Education/Certification Required:
- High school graduate or GED certificate
- Preferred: CDA
- CPR. First Aid and Food Handlers Permit
Technology Proficiency: Level 1 – Applied (use of)
- Basic computer operations
- Basic work processing
- Basic data archiving
- Basic e-mail
- Basic use of job-related student and or financial management system
- CCISD Acceptable Use Policy and Technology Ethics/Etiquette
Experience Required:
- Proven performance in position with similar responsibilities
- Minimum of two-year professional childcare experience in a licensed facility
- Preferred: Experience in the field of early childhood
Function
Under the direct supervision of the Early Care Director, the Early Care Educator Paraprofessional II is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for children enrolled in the Child Education Center. The early care educator must have knowledge of child development and be able to create age-appropriate lesson plans and activities. They must also communicate effectively with parents and be able to assess and report on each child's progress. Early care educators will maintain a good rapport with parents, grandparents, principals, assistant principals, administrative personnel, co-workers, and the public. The early care educator will assist the early care director in other functions to maintain compliance and the orderly operation of the Child Education Center and compliance with state regulations.

Reponsibilities:
- Communicate with student parents and staff, demonstrating tact, understanding, and compassion always, while maintaining confidentiality and ensuring proper and accurate documentation concerning incidents/complaints within the childcare center.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for all classroom functions using program curriculum.
- Provide experiences for all children that promote exploration, problem solving, creativity and a sense of self and belonging.
- Maintain a safe, and healthy learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
- Encourage the involvement of families in the classroom and all activities of the children.
- Willing and able to work as part of a team.
- Physically able to bend, lift, reach, and endure sustained physical activity throughout the day.
- Willing to receive instruction from the Early Care Director and the CCISD District’s Center Supervisor.
- Good judgment regarding communication/non-communication of confidential child, parent and employee information.
- Able to travel daily from one CEC to another within the district.
- Performs entry and exit health checks with parents as children arrive and depart at the beginning/end of the day.
- Know, understand the purposes of Child Care Regulations, Texas Rising Star criteria and local guidelines for childcare centers and adheres to all requirements.
- Know and adhere to all regulations related to nutrition and documentation of all meals served to children as set forth by the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
- Conducts assessment of all children’s developmental progress, uses that information for the planning of activities and shares the accomplishments and goals with families.
- Completes and maintains a record of 30 clock hours annually of professional development (CPR and First Aid and Food Handler’s Permit do not count toward the 30 hours).
- Supervises assigned children at all times.
- Reports suspected abuse or neglect to the Texas Department of Family Protective Services and to law enforcement as required by the Texas Family Code.
- Demonstrates physical, emotional, and intellectual competencies necessary for self- control and good judgment when performing assigned responsibilities.
- Recognizes and respects the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures.
- Fosters developmentally appropriate independence in all children.
- Promotes feelings of security and trust in children by being warm, supportive and nurturing.
- Performs cleaning and meal preparation duties as assigned by the Early Care Director.
- Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Early Care Director and CEC District Supervisor.
