Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and/or designee, The Camp Director is responsible for the management and supervision of a comprehensive summer camp program serving children between the ages of 4-12. This includes the planning, marketing and promotion, scheduling, execution and evaluation of the 8 week camp sessions offered at Fleetwood. As a member of the Fleetwood Summer Staff, you are expected to work in cooperation with ALL camp and building staff.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum age of 18 yrs. Old
High School Diploma or equivalent and Some College
Strong interest, maturity and judgment in working with children in an outdoor setting
Minimum of 3 years of knowledge and experience in a camp setting
Possess the ability to work as a team member with other counselors and senior staff members
Responsible, friendly, enthusiastic, patient and willing to learn
Must be able and willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
Follow Camp Handbook guidelines
Ensure the safety of all camp participants including summer staff
Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising summer camp counselors
Responsible for planning, organizing, executing and evaluating the formal training program for summer camp counselors
Provide the highest level of customer service to parents, staff and children enrolled in our camps and the general public within the building
Enforce building and camp policies
Participate in daily activities with the counselors and campers
Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies
Directly supervise and support Assistant Directors, Counselors and children within specified camps
Manage announcements daily for parents, campers and staff
Strong customer service and teamwork orientation
Knowledge of equipment needed for gymnasium use including, but not limited to, volleyball, gymnastics, basketball, pre-school play equipment, divider curtains, gym equipment, tables and chairs, and sound communication systems.
Ability to read manuals (safety, instructional, etc.) professional and technical journals, legal documents, newspapers, and encyclopedias Ability to understand these materials, and apply instruction and narrative as required.
Ability to give verbal direction to subordinates, communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Perform other related work as assigned by Coordinator or Director
Ability to work primarily indoors and is occasionally subject to outdoor environmental conditions
Rate:
Starting at $18.75/ hour
Schedule:
This is a full-time, seasonal summer position. Schedule includes nine consecutive weeks during the summer. Typical working hours are 6:45am-2:45pm or 10am-6:15pm at camp location.
