20 hours per week during the school year. Hours may vary depending on recruitment efforts and referrals from grant funders. Possibility of position growing to more hours per week. Some evening hours are required.
Purpose Statement
To provide personal instruction, demonstrate appropriate educational activities; deliver research based curriculum and curriculum materials to parents regarding children development and related issues following guidelines developed by USD 394, and the Kansas Parents as Teacher (PAT) program. To conduct childhood screenings included but not limited to vision, hearing, the understanding and use of language, motor development, hand-eye coordination, health and physical development for pre-school children.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere. Must be able to work in noisy and sometimes crowed environments. There may be occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue; occasional interaction among unruly children. Some evening hours required.
Reports To Parents As Teachers Program Coordinator
Education Complete 60 hours or more at an institution of higher education (preferably in early childhood development or related field); degree preferred
Qualifications Must be able to read, write and comprehend written and oral instructions
National PAT Certificate (training provided upon employment)
Must be a licensed driver and have reliable transportation
Experience Job related experience is preferred but training is available
Terms School year term. Part-time. Salary determined by experience and current salary schedule.
