General Function:
High Dosage Tutor is a state funded after school/extended day program. The grant funds academic support along with homework assistance as well as artistic and cultural enrichment opportunities for students. Students in high-poverty schools are provided academic supports, especially in math, reading, and science. The teacher must work with community partners to help create and implement a project-based curriculum. Supervision will be provided by the Site Coordinator and Principal of the assigned school.
Education/Training/Experience:
Minimum: Highly Qualified and hold a valid New Mexico Teaching Certificate (K-6 or 7-8)
Preferred: ELA/ Math/Science Bilingual: English-Spanish.
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
Candidate should be knowledgeable in best practices, Common Core State Standards, and NM state priority standards. Candidates must be able to work with others and be able to follow curriculum and grant requirements. Basic computer skills (MS Office/web based applications) are required and the ability to teach virtually if required. The candidate should be willing to participate in training and professional development with District Program Director as mandated by the grant proposal. Candidates should understand and embrace the concept of accountability in meeting the deliverables deadlines for the NM Public Education Department. Candidates must have good interpersonal skills with students and be willing to work closely with families.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs all functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the organization. Current essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Implement the High Dosage Tutoring/21st CCLC curriculum developed by the Community Educators Network, and or trained in 21st CCLC PD Saturdays.
- Take an active role in developing the academic and personal strengths of students enrolled in the after-school program.
- Serve as an instructional role model/mentor to teachers and educational paraprofessionals staffing the program.
- Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for students enrolled in the program to follow.
- Work with staff to ensure accurate records are maintained, including attendance and grades.
- Communicate frequently and honestly with the Principal and District Program Director regarding student progress and areas of concern.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Salary Range and Benefits:
$40/HOURLY
Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to):
Standard office equipment and software platforms such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Google Suite. Telephone, fax, copier, computer, stamp machine, badge machine, calculator.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
Required to stand; move throughout the classroom/school; communicate verbally and electronically; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. May have to stoop, kneel, sit, etc. May have occasion to perform light lifting, but not more than 25 pounds.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed in a school setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.

- Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.
- Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
- Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment.
- Demonstrates skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and appropriate/ special application.
- Protects the district’s resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment.
- Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in the prevention of muscle strain/injury.
