Job Title: Part-Time Certified Tutor
Reports to: Building Principal
Location: Miami Whitewater Elementary

We are seeking a part-time Certified Tutor beginning in January 2025 to join our team at Miami Whitewater Elementary.
Job Summary: The Certified Tutor provides personalized academic support to students in grades K-12 across various subjects, to assess individual learning needs, develop customized lesson plans, and monitor student progress to ensure achievement of academic goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess each student's strengths and weaknesses to create tailored learning plans and deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions.
- Provide in-depth instruction in core K-12 subjects like math, science, English, social studies, etc., aligned with current curriculum standards.
- Regularly track student progress through assessments, practice tests, and observations to identify areas for improvement and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, and classroom teachers to discuss student needs, progress updates, and any concerns.
- Adapt teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, utilizing various instructional strategies.
- Guide students on effective study habits, time management, and test preparation techniques.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in education, related subject area, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience working with K-12 students in a tutoring or classroom setting.
- Ability to clearly explain concepts, provide constructive feedback, and build positive relationships with students.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital tools to enhance instruction.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student, staff, or sensitive information is non negotiable.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and the community.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communications.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and BOE policies.
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. verbal (including listening) and non-verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to provide demonstrated leadership in the execution of communication strategies.
- Must be able to work independently. Pushing the agenda and goals of the school district is imperative.
- Political acumen and organizational support is strong focus as well.
