CARROLLTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SECRETARY
School Year/Full-time (40 hrs. per week)
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: This position provides administrative and secretarial support to the Elementary School and Principals during the school year. It requires a service-oriented individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to serve as the first point of contact in the elementary office and support staff, families, and students.
REPORTS TO: Elementary School Principal and Assistant Principal
COMPENSATION: As described in the Secretarial Association contract
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or GED equivalency.
General Office experience.
Ability to type 45 wpm as per the secretarial contract.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions.
Must be self-directed, take initiative, and have problem-solving skills
Exceptional level of organizational skills
Accounting experience preferred.
Experience with the student data software Skyward.
Must be able to lift and restrain students when necessary.
Knowledge of electronic transcripts through Parchment.
Knowledge of Michigan Department of Education sites such as MEIS, MSDS, MICR, CEPI, GAD, and BAA Secure Site.
Knowledge of computer skills in Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
Must receive a satisfactory response to P.A. 189 Letter. (Misconduct Law)
Must satisfactorily pass:
Law enforcement background check.
Personal and professional reference background check.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Welcomes students and visitors in a positive and helpful manner.
Deals with significant variations in daily job responsibilities.
Drafts emails and letters and creates flyers.
Keeps all student, parent, and staff information confidential.
Answers multi-line telephone and directs calls while using proper phone etiquette.
Provides general secretarial support to supervisors and staff.
Organizes school-wide events.
Maintains a professional appearance and neat office environment.
Prioritizes tasks and shows productive work habits.
Maintains a positive attitude when working with students, parents, other staff members, and community members who visit Carrollton Public Schools facilities or programs.
Cooperates with teachers, students, and administration
Ensures a safe environment for students at all times.
Works as part of a team.
All other duties as assigned by the administration.
