Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution in the appropriate education area.
Properly certified to meet IL Teaching License Standards
Current Professional Educator License (PEL).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration, and the general public.
Knowledge of relevant technology including the use of technology in the classroom.
Meet professional teacher education requirements.
Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
REPORTS TO: Lower School Principal
POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the school.
Model the expectations you set for your classroom and your students
Adapt daily routines to meet the interest and needs of the individual child and the group
Plan and implement activities that meet the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of the students
Provide a physical and psychologically safe and secure environment where children feel comfortable
Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner
Exercise professionalism, in person and via various communication vehicles, at all times with students, parents and colleagues
Strong knowledge of formative and summative assessment of learning
Proven ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning
Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and report to the appropriate administrator information about individual student compliance with school and school behavioral expectations, and state and federal laws.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations.
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board Policy.
Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
Attend and participate in meetings involving the faculty and other participants that are of reasonable length and address a relevant educational topic as a legitimate function and obligation of professional educators.
Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
Accept a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Classroom based with regular interaction throughout the school.
Attendance at meetings and events outside regular school hours.
PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
$47,000 - $80,000
