The Roaring Fork School District is seeking a highly qualified Child Find Coordinator/Team Lead/ECSE Itinerant to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond.

The Child Find Coordinator/Team Lead/ECSE Itinerant plays a pivotal role in identifying, supporting, and coordinating services for children ages birth to five with developmental delays or disabilities. This position is responsible for leading the Child Find process, partnering with community agencies, district personnel, and families to ensure effective identification and service coordination. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in early childhood special education, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to foster collaborative relationships with families, community stakeholders, and educational teams. The role also requires a deep commitment to family-centered practices and inclusivity, particularly for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Reports To: Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Supervising Manager

Position Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education or a related field.
  • Possession of, or enrollment in, a program to obtain an appropriate Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) endorsement. Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Colorado Teaching License with an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) or Special Education endorsement.
  • A valid Colorado Driver's License and the ability to travel between various sites.
  • Experience working with young children, particularly in an early childhood special education setting is preferred.

Core Competencies and Skills

  • Knowledge:

  • Understanding of typical child development and conditions associated with developmental delays.
  • Experience working with children ages birth to five, including knowledge of early childhood developmental trajectories.
  • Competence in family systems, diverse cultures, and multilingual environments.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to early childhood special education.
  • Familiarity with assessment tools, curriculum development, and the screening/evaluation process for young children.
 
  • Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to lead teams, provide coaching, and drive collaborative efforts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Ability to adapt and tailor instructional strategies to meet the individual needs of children.
  • Proficiency in using technology for data collection, monitoring, and reporting (e.g., Google Suite, TS GOLD, etc.).
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with families, community members, and educational staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Child Find Coordination:

  • Interagency Collaboration: Lead and sustain an interagency child identification process by developing and maintaining strong relationships with local community organizations, service providers, and stakeholders.
  • Outreach and Marketing: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to raise awareness about child identification services, ensuring that families and communities are informed about available resources.
  • Referral and Screening: Create and refine community referral procedures to streamline the identification process for children needing early intervention services. Establish and manage a proactive, ongoing community screening process for children ages birth to five.
  • Evaluation & Service Coordination: Conduct and oversee screenings in alignment with the "Screening and Evaluation Guidelines, Birth-5 Years." Coordinate services and connect families with the appropriate community resources.
  • Family Engagement: Promote active family participation throughout the child identification and service delivery process, ensuring families are informed about their child’s progress and available support services.
  • Data Management & Evaluation: Maintain Child Find databases (Part C and Part B) and ensure the process is aligned with Colorado Child Identification Effectiveness Indicators, including data collection, analysis, and continuous process improvement.

Team Lead & Program Coordination:

  • Collaboration with ECE Instructional Facilitator: Work closely with the ECE Instructional Facilitator to manage Bridgecare data and ensure accurate reporting through the Universal Preschool (UPK) program.
  • IEP Placement & Transition: Collaborate with the Colorado Department of Education (CDEC) to place students with IEPs into the RFSD Early Childhood Education programs and ensure appropriate classroom placements.
  • Team Support & Supervision: Assist the ECSE Supervising Manager with performance evaluations for ECSE team members and provide guidance on best practices for service delivery.

Direct Service & IEP Development:

  • IEP Development: Assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students, including appropriate goals, objectives, and transition plans. Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and specialists to ensure IEPs are tailored to the child’s needs.
  • Direct Instruction: Provide specialized, individualized instruction to children as outlined in their IEPs, ensuring that all activities are developmentally appropriate and promote meaningful progress in key areas of development.
  • Collaborative Teaching: Co-plan, co-teach, and model best practices for classroom staff to ensure effective differentiation and support for children with special needs.
  • Progress Monitoring: Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, utilizing tools like TS GOLD, and maintain clear and accurate records to track achievement and communicate progress to families and team members.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment. Apply positive discipline techniques and support classroom staff in managing student behavior effectively.
  • Curriculum Adaptation: Work with instructional staff to adapt the district’s Creative Curriculum and assessment tools to meet the needs of individual students with disabilities.

Child Find Program Support:

  • Referral & Screening: Assist the Child Find team in conducting screenings and evaluations for children ages birth to five, ensuring that assessments are comprehensive and include input from families and professionals (e.g., speech therapists, school nurses, etc.).
  • Program Administration: Help manage and maintain databases for Part C and Part B child identification processes, ensuring that referral, screening, and evaluation processes are aligned and efficiently implemented.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize effectiveness indicators to assess the success of the child identification process, using data to inform decisions and adjust strategies for better outcomes.

Professional Development & Collaboration:
  • Staff Training & Support: Provide training, coaching, and support to classroom staff, paraprofessionals, and other team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to meet the needs of children with special needs.
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Special Education (SPED) teams to implement district-wide strategic plans and initiatives, ensuring alignment of services across all early childhood programs.
  • Regional & State Engagement: Participate in regional and state meetings related to early childhood education, Child Find, and special education services, sharing insights and best practices with other professionals.
 

Salary: $65,100 - $101,220; Based on education and years of accountable experience.*

  • *Certified Salary Schedule B + 27 additional days of work
  • Working Calendar: 212 day Contract

Working Conditions

  • Travel: Frequent travel between multiple school sites is required.
  • Physical Demands: The role may involve sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods, as well as occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds). Assistance may be needed for lifting items over 50 pounds.
  • Environmental Factors: The work environment is typically moderate in noise level, with the need to occasionally assist children in physical tasks such as positioning or moving.
