Maintenance Worker- Mid-Shift
 

Qualifications:                        High School Diploma; Valid Class D Illinois Driver’s license; Excellent driving record; Working knowledge of materials, equipment, tools and techniques of building/ materials trades; Basic plumbing and welding skills; Basic
                                                 computer skills and use of HVAC software; Basic asbestos license

Reports to:                              Director of Facilities and Transportation

Evaluation:                             As per the association agreement

Work Calendar:                      Full-Time, 12 month position as per association agreement

Position Goal:                        To assist the Facilities Supervisor in the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment and to perform delivery of multiple items as needed

Rate of Pay/Benefits:            See attached salary schedule per the negotiated agreement. The position includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits     

The Maintenance Worker shall be responsible for the following duties and perform related building, ground maintenance, and custodial work as assigned by administration:

Superintendent/Board:

  • Adhere to and observe all Board of Education policies and regulations and administrative rules and procedures


District-wide:

  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, flooring, masonry, and trade work as needed
  • Use standard tools and equipment to perform maintenance and installations
  • Provide preventative maintenance
  • Efficiently and correctly operate light and medium motor equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems; clocks, fire alarms, HVAC, digital temperature controls, etc.
  • Perform building HVAC and utility shut downs during Hazmat and emergency situations
  • Clean and care for tools and equipment
  • Work with asbestos when needed
  • Update and maintain operation and maintenance manuals, blueprints, and preventative maintenance records
  • Review, update, maintain and organize inventories of supplies and parts
  • Perform ground maintenance of mowing, trimming, snow removal, etc
  • Provide snow plowing of parking lots and playgrounds
  • Provide pick-up and delivery of furniture, books, equipment, supplies, food stuffs and other items as needed
  • Be knowledgeable of, navigate and use the HVAC software
  • Be knowledgeable of and use computer assisted preventative maintenance/work order programs
  • Respond to emergencies and work overtime as needed
  • Become familiar with the various vendors used by the District
  • Collaborate with vendors to obtain the most economical and efficient parts and supplies
  • Maintain Class D Driver’s License
  • Maintain vehicle for safe operation by checking vehicle fluid

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to move furniture, desks, shelving, table, maintenance supplies, and food
  • Pull out and put away lunch tables
  • Frequently prolonged body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, stretching and reaching
  • Repeated body movements of pushing, pulling and lifting of 80+ pounds
  • Must be able to move and use ladders
  • Exposure to noise and activity levels associated with school life
