Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, to perform a variety of routine clerical and supportive activities for instructional personnel; and to do other related work as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma with passing score on ParaProfessional Assessment, 48 college credits or an Associate’s degree.
- Appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
- Routine record storage, retrieval, and management procedures.
- Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups, particularly those exhibiting specialized needs.
- Appropriately manage student behavior and guide student toward more acceptable social behaviors.
- Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults.
- Assists in the preparation of the School Library Media Center as a future ready, welcoming and collaborative learning environment.
- Provide primary support for school technology issues which includes but not limited to managing Chromebook device inventory and distribution, troubleshooting and reporting technology issues, powerwashing devices and end of year device collections.
- Assists students and teachers in the use of library facilities and services.
- Performs various circulation duties; including ordering and receiving books, checking books in and out, sorting and shelving books, maintaining accurate circulation records, preparing requisitions, and selecting books for purchase and distribution.
- Maintains shelf lists and card catalog; sets up bulletin boards and thematic displays.
- Contacts students and parents about overdue or damaged materials and collects fines.
- Makes minor repairs on damaged books and/or School Library Media equipment.
- Monitors School Library Media Center usage and keeps accurate attendance records.
- Readies books for reserve on teachers' requests, and maintains the reserve shelf.
- Prepares current magazines for shelving and maintains the back-number stacks.
- Assists in the annual inventory of library materials, prepares lists of missing books and books to be discarded, and completes accurate annual state reports.
- Maintains current inventory of supplies and suggests items for acquisition as needed.
- Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the School Library Media Center.
- Helps students locate reference materials and other instructional materials to support and reinforce classroom instruction and assisting in fulfilling teachers' requests.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PAY AND HOURS:
Pay and Hours: The hourly pay is determined based upon degree level. The standard day is 7 hours.
