POSITION TITLE: Secondary School Counselor- Middle School- LTS

Provide comprehensive guidance program for secondary students; consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance effectiveness in helping students; and provide support to other high school educational programs. Acts as Administrator for Standardized testing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the orientation of students and parents new to the school.
- Coordinate and implement group guidance program.
- Counsel groups or individual students through the development of educational and career plans.
- Consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding student needs and strategies.
- Provide guidance information and resources.
- Make referrals to appropriate community resources in accordance with school district guidelines.
- Provide supervision and coordination of standardized testing.
- Maintain student records.
- Process student transcripts and provide college and job recommendations upon request.
- Respond to crisis situations when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
- Master’s Degree in Secondary School Counseling.
- Pennsylvania Secondary School Guidance certification.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
- Well organized with good time management skills.
- Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
- Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
- Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 190 days per year; 7.5 hours per day.
- Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the Roberts Education Association.
- Master's Degree starting $61,000; Final salary determined by education and experience.
