QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution in the appropriate education area.  

  • Charter schools may employ non-certified teachers if they have a bachelor's degree and meet other qualifications.

  • Preferred: 

  • Current Professional Educator License (PEL).

  • Middle School Spanish endorsement.

  • Successful teaching experience desired, but not necessary.

  • Ability to be an effective member of a team.

  • Commitment to data-based decision-making and continuous improvement model.

  • Able to communicate effectively with parents and students

  • Knowledge of relevant technology including the use of technology in the classroom.  

  • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis. 

  • REPORTS TO: Upper School Principal

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    • Develop and implement engaging and culturally relevant Spanish language lessons aligned with state standards and district curriculum guidelines for middle school students.

    • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including communicative approaches, to foster language acquisition, fluency, and proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

    • Integrate authentic materials, cultural activities, and technology tools to enhance student engagement and understanding of Spanish language and Hispanic culture.

    • Assess student language proficiency through formative and summative assessments, providing feedback and support to address individual learning needs.

    • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages risk-taking, collaboration, and appreciation for diverse perspectives.

    • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and develop interdisciplinary connections that enhance students' language learning experiences.

    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, academic performance, and opportunities for enrichment or support in Spanish language learning.

    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in language instruction, instructional technology, and cultural competency.

    • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and behavior, and adhere to school and district policies regarding grading, reporting, and student conduct.

    • Maintains and updates all classroom records

     

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

    • Classroom based with regular interaction throughout the school.

    • Attendance at meetings and events outside regular school hours.

    PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

    • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds.  

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    • $47,000 - $80,000

    • Employer paid individual health insurance options.

    • Employer paid life insurance.

    • TRS Eligible.

    • Sign On Bonus Eligible.
