Description
TITLE: Special Education Resource Aide
LOCATION: Eisenhower Junior High School Grades 6-8
This posting is for multiple positions that are available for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year at Eisenhower Junior High School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: Teacher/Building Administrator
JOB GOALS:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities may vary depending upon the role in which assistance is being provided at a given time, and/or the type of special education classroom/service option of the student(s). Under the supervision of a certified staff member, responsibilities may include monitoring, educational assistance, clerical duties, supportive services, and other activities related to Special Education, as appropriate.
The following is a partial list of responsibilities/duties that may be performed by an assistant under the supervision of registered or certified personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten-months.
Hourly During Student School day (6.75 Hours per day)
Starting rate of $15.60 per hour. Additional $1 per hour depending on position and responsibilities.

- Required licensure and/or certification as required by the State of Illinois.
- Demonstrated interest in and understanding of students.
- Demonstrated physical fitness and freedom from communicable disease as required by School Code. (Section 24-5)
- Ability to develop rapport and work with students and faculty.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

JOB GOALS:
- To assist the teacher in providing a well organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
- To provide assistance in meeting the specific needs of children in Special Education programs.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assists in preparation for classroom activities.
- Assist in the implementation of the student’s behavior management program.
- Assist the teacher in devising/implementing accommodations and/or modifications for reinforcing material or skills based on individual students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
- Assist in self-care activities.
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Instruct a group of students or an individual student in a particular academic or non-academic lesson planned and assigned by the teacher or support staff.
- Works with students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.
