JOB TITLE: Registered Behavior Technician

JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Behavior Technician will provide intensive behavior support services to students in-district. The RBT will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to implement behavior support plans for students who require consistent and significant behavioral support during the school day. The Registered Behavior Technician will meet all of the requirements of RBT certification. This is not an instructional support position, although the RBT may provide some instructional support to students as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Understand and apply the basic principles of ABA in classroom settings as directed.
Assess student needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior
Under the supervision of a BCBA is apply to train others on ABA principles and Best Practices
Collect and submit data needed for Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans. (BIP)
Implement Behavior Intervention Plans to affect behavior changes
Regularly review, and remain well-versed in a multitude of BIPs in order to implement the plans and monitor plans for multiple students, at the same time
Provide direct consultation to the BCBA, specific to analysis of data and recommendations for modifications or revisions to BIPs.
Model implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans for paraprofessionals and staff.
Provide feedback to classroom paraprofessionals and staff regarding Behavior Intervention Plan implementation.
When required, provide physical intervention for students demonstrating unsafe behaviors
Perform and document the district approved restraint and seclusion methods; as well as participate in yearly crisis intervention training provided by the district.
Participate as a member of the school crisis team.
Attend regular department meetings with the BCBA and other RBTs
Maintain consistency of Behavioral Intervention Plans by communicating and providing input to teachers and other support staff
Work with multiple students, wide-variety of age ranges, as assigned by the administration, case manager, and/or BCBA, work at multiple sites during the school year
Performs as an integral member of the educational team.
Maintains confidentiality in matters related to this position.
Relate in a helpful, positive, and efficient manner with peers, supervisors, and all those in contact with the Steger School District.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
The role requires frequent sitting, walking, standing, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Occasional travel to various school locations required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature and noise are relatively nonexistent
Work is performed in an environment where health hazards may occur
Occasional need for work outside the normal hours/days
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of high school diploma as well as formal training in theories of Applied Behavioral Analysis, or Behavioral Support Interventions and successful completion of the Registered Behavior Technician training course and examination for certification. A minimum of 2 years previous experience working with students who require behavior support.
LICENSES/CREDENTIAL:
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Paraprofessional Endorsement
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
180 days per year
7.5 hours per day
Twelve paid sick days
Four paid personal days
Starting hourly wage: $22.00 an hour
EVALUATION:
Two evaluations will be conducted during the first year of employment (45 and 90 days).
After the probationary period, evaluations will be completed in accordance with administrative procedures.
