Job Summary
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for assisting the athletics department in establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for all sports, with the three major goals of improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Assists in implementing strength training and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all school-sanctioned male and female athletic programs in a manner that reflects research-driven practices and districts' Long-Term Athletic/Fitness Development
  2. in cooperation with the Athletic Director, Head Strength Coach, Athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
  3. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships among Athletic Director, Sport Coaches, Athletic Trainers, and the Strength and Conditioning staff.
  4. Adhere to the policies and procedures of the district, school and athletic department for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the South Carolina High School League and the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards Guidelines.
  5. Assists in the tracking athlete attendance and athlete progress.
  6. Assists in reinforce expectations for athlete conduct that mirror the school’s expectations
for curricular and extra-curricular activities, as stated in the school’s Student Code of Conduct.
  1. Attends trainings, conferences, workshops, etc. as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  2. Presents a positive image of Hampton County School District vat all times. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Experience:
  1. A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training. 
  2. Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for high school populations.
  3. Strong motivational abilities. 
  4. Supports the vision, mission, and beliefs of Hampton County School District.
Knowledge:
  1. Must know how to operate strength training equipment, automated external defibrillator (AED), and sports aid equipment.
  2. A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training. 
  3. Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for high school populations.
  4. Strong motivational abilities. 
  5. Evidence of ability to interact positively with student athletes, colleagues, and the public. 
  6. Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills
  7. Ability to operate general office equipment including a computer, calculator, copier, etc. 
  8. Ability to create electronic reports and presentations, use the internet efficiently, communicate electronically via e-mail, and manage electronic data and files in an organized manner.
Working Conditions:
  1. School environment with significant exposure to environmental conditions to include loud environments and exposure to sunlight. 
  2. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require considerable attention and working with students. 
  3. Physical demands are activities requiring movement/lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds. 
  4. Frequent travel required; occasional overnight travel required
  5. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
