Job Summary:
South Meadow School seeks a creative, organized, and motivated Yearbook Advisor to lead students in capturing the memories and events of the school year through the annual yearbook publication. This role involves managing the yearbook production process, guiding students in design and content creation, and fostering a collaborative environment where students develop skills in photography, writing, editing, and graphic design.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Supervision:

  • Lead and supervise a yearbook club or team, meeting regularly to work on yearbook tasks.
  • Organize and manage yearbook production timelines, from concept development to final editing and submission.
  • Collaborate with students to capture a wide range of school activities and events, ensuring broad representation of all grade levels.
  • Content Development:

    • Guide students in creating layouts, captions, and written content that reflect the culture, achievements, and memories of the school year.
    • Train students in the use of yearbook software, design tools, and photography.
    • Proofread and edit all content for accuracy, consistency, and appropriateness.
  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Coordinate with school administration, faculty, and student groups to cover important school events and secure materials for the yearbook.
    • Communicate with families, students, and staff regarding deadlines, submissions, and purchasing details.
  • Vendor:

    • Work with yearbook vendors to manage production timelines and ensure timely submission.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Art, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
    • Experience with graphic design and photography is a plus.
    • Familiarity with yearbook software or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to inspire creativity and teamwork in middle school students.
  • This is a stipend position requiring flexible hours, including occasional after-school meetings and attendance at school events as needed.
