Description

Basalt High School is seeking an experienced full time English Language Arts Teacher for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. Join our dedicated team in a vibrant school community located in the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley. Position start date is Monday, December 2nd. 

Position Overview: As an ELA Teacher, you will inspire and engage students through creative and interdisciplinary teaching methods. The ideal candidate will have experience in language acquisition, particularly with native Spanish speakers, and a strong background in project-based learning. You should be committed to continuous professional growth, adept at utilizing a variety of instructional tools, and experienced in fostering community support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement standards-based lesson plans that promote student engagement and creativity.
  • Utilize project-based learning strategies to enhance student understanding and application of English language arts.
  • Build meaningful relationships with a diverse student body, fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Serve as a Crew Leader for a group of students, acting as an advocate and primary contact for parents, while monitoring academic and social progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote a positive school culture and support student success.
  • Embrace technology and its applications in the classroom to enhance learning experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an English Language Arts Teacher or in a related educational role.
  • Background in language acquisition, particularly with native Spanish speakers, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience with project-based learning and a commitment to student-centered instruction.
  • Ability to adapt to and embrace rapid changes in technology and instructional practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for building relationships with students, parents, and the community.
  • Valid CDE CO Teaching Licensure in English Language Arts (7-12) or the ability to obtain.

Pay Range: $54,000 to $82,320 
Salary Range is based on education and years of experience. Annual salary is based on an 8-hour day (FTE 1). Positions less than full FTE or with late starts will be prorated accordingly.
