QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Counselor Endorsement.
Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a school or similar setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students' well-being.
Knowledge of current educational trends, best practices, and standards-based instruction
Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
The School Counselor will support the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. Creating a positive school environment by providing guidance, counseling services, and resources to students, families, and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social, and emotional challenges.
Develop and implement school-wide programs to promote mental health and wellness.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student needs and create personalized interventions.
Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student strengths and areas for improvement.
Provide crisis intervention and support for students in distress.
Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation among students.
Organize and lead workshops on topics such as stress management, study skills, and career exploration.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions.
Stay current on best practices in school counseling and mental health support.
Assign classes to students.
Prepare reports and documentation as required by school policies, regulations, and legal mandates.
Act as a liaison between the school and community resources to connect families with external support services.
Participate in professional development activities, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives to continuously improve teaching practice, curriculum design, and student outcomes.
Actively participate in school events, committees, and extracurricular activities to support the school's mission and foster a sense of community among students, staff, and families.
Adhere to professional standards of ethics and conduct, including maintaining confidentiality and upholding the policies and procedures of Cambridge Lakes Charter School.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Classroom-based with regular interaction throughout the school.
Attendance at meetings and events outside regular school hours.
PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
Regular travel within the school building and occasional off-site meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time position.
Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and locally competitive.
Salary Range: $50,000-$90,000
