FY25 Child Nutrition Worker / Administrative Assistant Vacancy
POSITION: Child Nutrition Worker / Administrative Assistant
LOCATION: Delmar Middle and High School

QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- High school graduate or equivalent and perform basic arithmetic operations
- Must have ServSafe Certification or able to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Work individually
- Have and maintain an excellent work ethic and a cooperative attitude
- Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members
- Lift and carry < 40 lbs.
- Understand food preparation and safety instructions
- Frequently stoop, bend, kneel and climb (ladders)
- Frequently perform repetitive motions
- Tolerate moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures
Safety and Sanitation
- Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report conditions to the supervisor
- Maintain appropriate personal appearance and hygiene
- Assist Child Nutrition Manager with Program Management
- Develop & implement menus, coordinate recipes.
- Complete and submit all documentation as required by the DOE and the USDA.
- Attend meetings as requested by the Child Nutrition Manager.
- Administer Free and Reduced Breakfast/Lunch program.
- Implement and comply with all licensing and regulations as requested by the Child Nutrition Manager.
- Work with district administration to execute special events.
- Assist teaching staff with nutritional education goals as requested.
- Complete and maintain production and quality assurance records.
- Assist Child Nutrition Manager with Financial Management
- Prepare daily receivables, reviewing for accuracy.
- Prepare, distribute and reconcile invoices for special events.
- Comply with state and federal procurement regulations.
- Periodically review vendor pricing and research purchasing options for optimal pricing opportunities.
- Establish retail pricing for NSB, NSL and a la carte items to meet financial requirements.
- Work with purchasing Co-op group to test new products, reevaluate existing bid items and make additions.
- Review vendor invoices for accuracy.
- Provide accurate records and reports to business manager to create monthly financial statements.
- Assist Child Nutrition Manager with Facilities Management
- Work with school administration to ensure adequate seating for student enrollment.
- Determine facility needs for purchase of equipment and small wares.
- Have preventative maintenance of equipment done in a timely manner.
- Establish and implement safety standards and security measures in the kitchen and dining area.
- Assist Child Nutrition Manager with Marketing & Communications
- Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with administration, state agencies, parents, students and staff.
- Develop programs to educate students, staff and community about the benefits of the NSB and NSL programs.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding updates and changes to the program.
- Prepare quality food according to a planned menu of tested, uniform recipes
- Serve food according to meal schedules, departmental policies, and procedures
- Practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers
- Help supervise storage and handling of food items and supplies and maintain a clean, organized storage area
- Remove used dishes and assist in the cleaning of steam tables, other tables, and furnishings in the dining area
- Have and maintain a working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
- Operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools according to prescribed safety standards
- Handle and record cashier functions accurately
- Help record food requisitions and order necessary supplies
- Maintain daily food preparation records
- Other duties as assigned
- Satisfactory Child Protection Registry
- Mantoux skin test/PPD documentation
- The State of Delaware requires all public school employees to undergo a criminal background check (state and federal) to determine suitability for employment.
- Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory criminal background check, which is the responsibility of the employee.
- The State of Delaware requires new employees to be paid by direct deposit and to be part of a lag payroll system as conditions of employment.
