Position Title: District GT/504 Coordinator
Position Type: Commensurate with Experience / Exempt
Position Hours: Full-time extended workdays, occasional Saturdays, and frequent travel
Reports to: Director of Special Programs
Length of Term/Employment: 205 workdays / At-Will
Position Mission: The mission of the 504 and Gifted and Talented Coordinator is to
develop and manage comprehensive 504 and GT programs that support all students
in achieving their fullest potential. This role collaborates with educators, administrators,
and families to create an inclusive educational environment that promotes academic
excellence and supports social and emotional development.
Position Minimum Qualifications:
- Texas Educator Certification.
- Minimum of five years of experience in education, with at least two years in a leadership role related to gifted and talented or 504.
- Strong knowledge of 504 law and gifted education best practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform program decisions.
- Proficiency with educational technology and data management systems.
- Experience in a similar role at the district level.
- Master’s degree in education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related
- field.
- Advanced certification in gifted education.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Reports to the Director of Special Programs
Gifted and Talented Program Management:
- Oversee the identification and assessment process for gifted and talented students.
- Develop and implement curriculum and enrichment programs for GT students.
- Provide professional development and support for teachers working with GT
- students.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the GT program.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding gifted education.
- Train campus leaders and staff to plan and organize GT showcases
504 Program Management:
- Oversee the identification and assessment process for students who qualify for a 504 plan.
- Assist with the development of appropriate 504 plans that are individualized based on student needs and data.
- Provide professional development and support for campus 504 coordinators.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the 504 programs.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding section 504.
- Develop systems to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the 504 program district wide.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure the successful implementation of 504 and GT programs.
- Serve as a liaison between the district, schools, parents, and community organizations.
- Facilitate meetings and training sessions for staff and parents.
- Communicate program goals, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to 504 and GT programs.
- Use data to inform program decisions and improvements.
- Prepare reports for district administration and the school board as needed.
- Monitor PEIMS coding of students
- Professional Development:
Attend professional development workshops and conferences.
Provide ongoing training and support to staff across the district.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- 504 Coordinators at each of the Jubilee Campuses
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment where staff, students, and families feel valued and supported.
- Promote a sense of unity and teamwork across all departments, regions, and campuses.
- Recognize and celebrate achievements and milestones within the school community.
- Attend campus, regional, and district events as appropriate.
- Uphold and promote the mission and values of Jubilee Academies, encouraging a culture of joy, understanding, balance, integrity, leadership, empowerment, and excellence.
- Ensure that all activities and initiatives reflect the diverse and inclusive nature of the school community.
- Support campus-level staff in incorporating the Jubilee Way into their daily activities and messages.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff to sustain the Jubilee Way.
- Develop training options and improvement plans for principals and campus administrators to enhance campus operations.
- Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all students, staff, and families.
- Address and resolve conflicts constructively and promptly, minimizing instructional time loss.
- Implement policies and practices supporting the emotional and social well-being of the school community.
- Monitor and develop campus action plans based on perceptual data such as employee surveys, lighthouse reports, and exit surveys.
- Encourage a constructive and thoughtful climate for learning at all campuses.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with educational trends and best practices related to 504 and gifted and talented programs.
- Participate in professional organizations and networks to enhance personal and professional growth.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel.
- Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
