Salary:
This is a full-time 12 month position at 232 days with a minimum annual salary of $94,000.00. This is a grant funded position with an anticipated end date of April 30, 2026.
Job Summary (Primary Purpose)
The Technology Alliance for Statewide Initiatives (TASI) is the cooperative of the 20 Education Service Centers (ESCs) technology initiatives. This role oversees and enhances TASI’s cybersecurity initiatives supporting the 20 ESCs. In this role, you will work to coordinate, communicate, and manage information regarding cybersecurity threats, regulatory requirements, and best practices with TASI ESC members and external regulatory agencies.
Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Education/ Certificates)
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technology-related field.
- Experience working with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO, CMMI, Texas Cybersecurity Framework.
- Project management experience – 2 years
- Supervisory experience leading a technical team.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the technology field developing and implementing security controls. Experience should include network or server administration.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Education/ Certificates)
- Graduate degree
- Security+, CISSP, CISA, CISM, or equivalent certification
- Other technical certifications such as Cisco or Microsoft
Major Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Serve as a representative of Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community
- Develop a framework common to ESCs for sharing best cybersecurity practices with LEAs, including policy documentation, incident response documentation, and technical controls.
- Organize and facilitate regular meetings of the TASI Cybersecurity Committee
- Gather and organize documentation of needs, challenges, and opportunities recommended by the TASI Cybersecurity Committee on behalf of ESCs and LEAs
- Facilitate evaluation and recommendation of cybersecurity products and solutions presented to the TASI Cybersecurity Committee
- Monitor cybersecurity regulatory requirements applicable to ESCs and LEAs. Serve as a Point of Contact (POC) representing ESCs and LEAs when communicating with regulatory agencies including, but not limited to DIR, TEA, TxSSC.
- Communicate with ESCs and LEAs the actual requirements of regulatory agencies.
- Clearly communicate new legislative requirements to ESCs.
- Communicate with ESC CISOs regarding the status for required documentation submissions
- Serve as Point of Contact for meetings with TEA CISO representing TASI Cybersecurity Committee and ESCs.
- Serve as member of statewide cybersecurity committees and/or boards necessary for representing ESCs.
- Facilitate consistent and documented communication between TEA and ESCs involving cybersecurity requirements, programs, and recommendations.
- Present at technology and cybersecurity conferences when appropriate to represent ESCs.

- Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include desktop management, file management and operations, and successfully working in a networked environment.
- Facilitate information sharing of CVE notifications, zero-day notifications, and other cybersecurity vulnerability bulletins.
- Recommend controls and remedies for vulnerabilities that are appropriate for ESCs.
- Identify security trends and communicate these to ESCs.
- Facilitate TASI-developed cybersecurity programs to offer to LEAs.
- Identify and arrange appropriate delivery of cybersecurity training opportunities for ESCs.

Assist the Director with creating and tracking budget expenditures, etc.
Working Conditions (Physical/Mental Demands & Environmental Factors)
- Some travel is required to ESCs across the state, conferences, and meetings.
- Some longer workdays with travel, meetings, and conferences.
- Follows policies and procedures.
