Provide coaching support to teachers who will elevate their instructional capacity to ensure a quality learning experience for students; provide instructional support to assist teachers with developing skills in the preparation of effective lesson planning, presentation of content, selection of appropriate and engaging resources, and classroom management; provide observation and feedback that will support teacher performance. Serve as a liaison between the school and the Curriculum & Instruction Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Master's degree in Educational Administration or Curriculum and Instruction
- Texas Administrative, Mid-Management, or Principal Certification preferred
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to collect, analyze, review, and submit data reports to determine progress and effectiveness of program goals.
- Ability to embrace the instructional coaching model and implement it with fidelity
- Minimum of three years of experience as a successful classroom teacher.
Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop supportive relationships with teachers that lead to positive change in instructional practices and student achievement.
- Plan and deliver high-quality professional learning and support teachers with implementation of new strategies into day-to-day teaching and learning.
- Assist teachers with understanding state standards for proficiency at all grade levels and content areas. Plan, implement, and evaluate TEKS-based instructional programs with teachers and program administrator including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
- Assist individual teachers and teams with analyzing multiple sources of data, including student work, to reflect on student growth and determine appropriate instructional approaches.
- Understand effective instructional practices and assist teachers in implementing these practices.
- Support teachers' implementation of differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Co-teach and model instructional strategies that ensure rigorous core instruction for all learners.
- Provide support to teachers and teams in using backward design to plan instructional units and classroom lessons.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide timely and specific feedback with a focus on students' learning behaviors.
- Conduct coaching conversations with teachers to promote reflection and instructional improvement.
- Support and participate in meeting the objectives of the campus/department improvement plans.
- Demonstrate high expectations of students and staff.
- Support implementation of district and campus programs.
- Ensure that goals and objectives for school climate are developed with the involvement of specialists, teachers, parents, and/or students, when appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Relate to staff, students, and parents in ways that convey equality and mutual respect.
- Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, and/or the community.
- Work cooperatively with others in developing the mission and articulating a vision for the school program.
- Systematically monitor school improvement activities or program activities.
- Evaluate data to determine the extent to which goals and objectives are met.
- Demonstrate skill in training staff, provide technical assistance to principals, teachers and staff concerning the teaching/learning process, and encourage improved overall performance.
- Use the mission of the school district, program evaluation outcomes, input from teachers and others to provide effective staff development activities.
- Offer constructive suggestions to ensure that policies and regulations support the teaching/learning process.
- Respond in a timely and positive manner to all requests for support from campus and district administrators.
- Coordinate departmental activities with other district offices and administrators and provide assistance to requesting departments.
- Follow district and department policies and procedures.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy.
